Terms of use
These terms apply when you use PaperDeed or buy a document. They are written to be read, not to hide the terms.
Last updated October 20, 2026
The service
PaperDeed provides self-help document templates that you fill in through a guided builder. The builder, the preview and the state rule explanations are free. You pay only when you download a finished PDF or DOCX.
We are not a law firm, we do not practice law, and using this site does not create an attorney-client relationship. We do not review your answers, tell you whether a document is right for your situation, or represent you in a dispute.
Your account
You can build a document without an account. The document is saved on your device and may be attached to an anonymous account. Signing in with an email code or Google attaches it to an account with that email. Keep access to the email address, because it is how you recover your documents.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter and for keeping your device and email secure. Do not share your account or use another person's identity to build a document.
Prices and payment
The price for one document and the price for unlimited documents for a year are shown on the pricing page and at checkout before you pay. A document purchase includes the PDF and DOCX for that document, in any state, with edits and re-downloads while the account is open. The unlimited option covers every form on the site for 12 months from the purchase date.
The yearly option does not renew automatically unless you turn renewal on in your account. If you turn it on, we send a reminder email before the year ends and before any charge. You can turn it off at any time before the charge. There is no trial, no monthly plan and no cancellation phone call.
Payments are processed by Polar. Prices are in US dollars. Taxes may be added where required. If a payment succeeds but the download does not unlock, contact support@paperdeed.com and we will fix it or refund it.
Refunds
Because a download is delivered immediately and cannot be returned, purchases are generally final. If a file is broken, the wrong document downloads, or access never unlocks, contact us within 30 days and we will replace the file or refund the purchase. Nothing in this section limits a right you have under applicable consumer law.
Acceptable use
Use the documents for your own lawful purposes or for a client matter where you are authorized to do so. Do not use the site to create a document you know is false, to impersonate someone, to harass a tenant or another person, or to violate a court order. Do not scrape the site, resell the templates as your own, or attempt to bypass the paywall.
No warranty
The templates and state explanations are provided as-is. We work to cite the statute or state form for each rule, but laws change and a county or court may apply a rule differently. We do not promise that a recorder, bank, court, agency or other office will accept a document, or that a document will achieve a particular result.
If your situation involves a mortgage, a court case, a tax question, a trust, a dispute or a significant amount of money, a licensed attorney in your state can review the document before you sign or file.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, PaperDeed is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or a document. Our total liability for a claim about a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that purchase. Some states do not allow certain limitations, so this section applies only as far as the law permits.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the service or the law changes. The date at the top shows the last update. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms. Questions go to support@paperdeed.com.
